Over the past few years, the content marketing industry has seen significant technological advancements that have improved how content is created, optimized, and distributed. But while the industry remains focused on SEO, social media, and other content creation and promotion methods, one of the most impactful forces in the digital realm is artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language generation.
Unfortunately, many content writers have been slow to embrace AI as a tool that saves time and money. As I shared in a previous blog, AI – Is It The Death of Creative Writing?, many content writers view AI as a liability to their creativity and livelihood.
There are several reasons for the reluctance:
- Ownership
- Lack of originality
- Plagiarism
- Job loss
And the list goes on.
However, the truth is that AI can enhance a writer’s ability and improve their productivity. By embracing AI tools like content generators and automated editing software, writers can free up time to focus on other essential aspects of their work, such as strategy and creativity. Additionally, AI can help identify significant trends and optimize content for search engines and social media platforms. Content writers who are willing to adapt and embrace AI will undoubtedly see increased success in their work.
While it’s true that AI automation will replace some jobs or rework job descriptions and tasks, AI is not a replacement for creativity. The human element is what makes writing unique, exciting, controversial, and thought-provoking. Think of AI as a partner, not a replacement.
As ethical concerns surrounding AI are constantly evolving, all marketing professionals must continue to dialogue and set standards to address ownership issues, i.e., intellectual property rights, plagiarism, and bias.
I believe we can coexist peacefully with AI, and the results can benefit everyone.
AI Content Writing Tools
Recently, I completed the Marketing AI Institute’s Piloting AI for Marketers course and found it immensely valuable. Not only did I gain a better understanding of the scope and limitations of AI, but I also learned practical strategies for assessing the value of various AI tools and identifying the best ones for specific use cases.
These include:
Jasper – Includes a free trial. Jasper promotes itself as software trained in the techniques of successful copywriters.
HyperWrite – Includes a free trial, and you don’t need a credit card to get started. The free plan offers 100 typeaheads shown daily, ten paragraphs per month, and ten rewrites monthly.
MarketMuse – Includes a free trial; the free version allows for ten queries per month.
While these are only a few of the AI tools available, I encourage everyone to explore the options to understand better how they work and how they can improve content creation and distribution, efficiency, and personalization for marketers.
AI has the potential to transform the marketing industry by providing insights that improve the user experience, boost visibility, and identify content that appeals to target audiences. Personalization, in particular, is a promising application of AI for content marketers, as it can strengthen connections between brands and their customers by tailoring content initiatives to individual interests and needs.
Embrace Opportunities
Savvy Content Marketers Have Nothing to Fear. Those who stick their head in the sand will be left behind.
Pay attention and embrace the AI revolution. This technology is already incorporated into our lives, and it’s here to stay. Those next-gen marketers who do so will remain competitive in the digital landscape. By leveraging the power of AI, businesses can increase content relevance, find new and improved ways to engage with their target audience, refine their content marketing process, and create more engaging experiences. AI has the potential to revolutionize content creation and marketing, and content marketers must embrace it to remain relevant, effective, and successful in the years to come.
